THE police detail providing security to ‘VIP’s’ (mainly elected officials) and in the province have been made to undergo loyalty check last week through an orientation by the Pangasinan Police Provincial Office.

P/ Chief Inspector Norman Florentino, police community relations chief, said around 100 police non-commissioned officer (PNCO’s) with the rank of PO1 to SPO4, were called to an orientation to remind them that their loyalty lies with the PNP and not to the politicians they have been assigned to.

He said the assigned police security detail of VIPs were never required in the past to report to their mother units so the orientation is being held regularly to check on their disposition whether or not they still function as police detail or as personal bodyguards of the politicians.

P/S Supt. Ronald Oliver Lee, provincial director, led the orientation and loyalty check on the police personnel assigned as security to the VIP’s and who are not required to wear their standard blue uniforms.

Florentino said PPPO has limited the assignment of only one (maximum two) security detail to a VIP. (Nora Dominguez)
