THE proposed transfer of the Dagupan City Hall from its present site on A.B. Fernandez Avenue to the donated 1.2-hectare land in the Pantal-Lucao area, has won the support of a former 12-year mayor.

Former City Mayor Alipio Fernandez Jr., was unequivocal in expressing his support for the proposed transfer of the Dagupan City hall when interviewed by newsmen after City Mayor Belen T. Fernandez delivered her second State of the City Address.

The former mayor who also once served as DILG Undersecretary and as Immigrations Commissioner, who just arrived from a trip to the US, said the transfer of the city hall is a positive sign since Dagupan needs a growth center outside of the city proper.

When asked by newsmen if he endorses the transfer of the city hall, the former mayor said: “Of course, I am in favor. We really need to open a new growth center”.

“As presented by Mayor Belen in her SONA, there are positive growth signs that are expected. So we should welcome it,” he said.

“l was not in favor of the sale of MC Adore, but that was already a done deal, so let history judge it,” said ex-Mayor Fernandez who also expressed support for the implementation of the city’s updated Comprehensive Land Use Plan (CLUP) of the city up to year 2025.

“The new Land Use Plan properly addressed the need for growth centers in Dagupan,” he added.

Ex-mayor Alipio cited Mayor Belen’s commitment to the development of Dagupan’s growth and development… “that is why I am very proud of her.” (Leonardo Micua)
