ANTI-DENGUE CAMPAIGN

THE Provincial Health Office has alerted schools and local governments about the imminent rise in dengue cases with the onset of the rainy season.

Dr. Ana de Guzman, PHO chief, said 648 cases have already already recorded for the period January to date.

Although it is 25% lower than last year, she said PHO in coordination with local governments will still have to intensify the campaign to clear surroundings of stagnant water.

PHO provided public schools with mosquito nets to help protect the children against dengue carrying mosquitoes.

In Dagupan City, dengue cases so far registered 57% lower than last year, from 171 cases to 96 this year.

Dr. Ophelia Rivera, city health officer, however, said the city has also intensified its campaign with the onset of rainy season by monitoring activities in barangays to ensure that there is no stagnant water found in homes. (Nora Dominguez)
