Ashok Vasandani is Dagupan’s ‘adopted son’

THE prominent Fil-Indian community leader and businessman Ashok Vasandani was recently honored by the Dagupan City government by declaring him “Adopted Son of Dagupan City.”

The resolution confirming his official adoption, authored by Councilor Luis Samson Jr. and co-authored by Councilor Joey Netu Tamayo, was unanimously approved.

An outstanding civic leader and a known philanthropist in the city, Vasandani has lived in Dagupan since 1981.

An Indian at birth, he was also recently naturalized as a Filipino citizen.

In recognition of his numerous contributions and help to the city’s projects for the under-privileged, Vasandani was conferred the Honorary Doctorate Degree in Humanities by the Lyceum Northwestern University on April 30, 2012.

Vasandani was president of the Rotary Club of Central Pangasinan and More Than Conquerors Breakfast Club in Dagupan City.

His son, Vejay, is presently the president of the Dagupan “Bangus’ Jaycees.#
