GHOST OF MC ADORE SALE

THE allegation of corruption by Vice Mayor Brian Lim in his prepared video “Korupsyon 101” being presented by Councilor Redford Erfe-Mejia has boomeranged on the two as both were involved in the fire sale of MC Adore for a measly sum of P119 million to the great prejudice of the city and its people.

Mayor Belen Fernandez shared this sentiment during a press conference and added that the two should look the mirror before accusing her of graft and corruption since they were the ones who spearheaded the sale of MC Adore, which was being primed then by Mayor Benjamin Lim as site of a new city hall.

She said if only MC Adore was not sold by then Mayor Lim there would be no need for anyone to donate land as site of the new city hall.

She said he wondered why then Councilor Brian did not even dissuade his father not to that prime property in Dagupan for only P119 million when the market price was P400 million.

The mayor said that before the two officials could accuse her of graft and corruption, they should first see themselves mirror if they were not tainted with graft in that sale of MC Adore.

She said the city was right in buying MC Adore for only P50 million with the help of then President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo and then Land Bank of the Philippines Director Albert Balingit to allow Dagupan to have a new city hall.

Ironically, Erfe-Mejia and Lim estimated the value of land around the city hall premises at  P55,000 per square meter to boost his argument opposing the draft resolution seeking the transfer of city hall, but they were ominously quiet when the MC Adore property was being sold at P13,000 per sq. meter.

Bakit hindi niya (Brian) kinukwestyon ang tatay niya noong ipagbili ang MC Adore sa murang halaga.” said Fernandez.

Meanwhile, Fernandez said the money paid to the city for the sale of MC Adore is still intact since there is an ongoing case filed by concerned citizens on the sale.

In justifying the need to transfer the city hall, she pointed to far less developed towns like Sta. Barbara, Candon that have adequately planned better delivery of services for their constituents with their respective new city hall.

Not only the city hall is dilapidated but has no more space for additional employees and provides no parking space for constituents’ vehicles who need to transact business with the city government.

Asked on the motive of Vice Mayor Lim and Councilor Erfe Mejia behind their continued opposition to the transfer Fernandez said they are perhaps irritated when they see good things happening in the city without corruption. (Leonardo Micua)
