ONE-TIME, BIG-TIME

FOUR men were arrested and 11 sachets of shabu and several firearms and ammunition were seized during the One-Time, Big Time Operation in various parts of Dagupan City early Wednesday by the police and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency.

P/Sr. Superintendent Ronald Lee, police provincial director, identified the arrested suspects as Aries Victorio, Jun Victorio, both of Barangay Pugaro for illegal possession of firearms and ammunition; Chrispin “Bong” Garcia. 32, and Arnel Quilonio, also of Barangay Pugaro, both high drug personality targets, for illegal drugs.

Aries Victorio, is the brother of incumbent Pugaro Barangay Chairman Nestor Victorio.

Lee, in a press conference at the Dagupan City Police Station, said in this One-Time,-Big Time operation, lawmen served eight search warrants issued by the courts, five of which turned out positive and three, negative.

It was yet the biggest joint Police-PDEA operation since P/Supt. Franklin Ortiz took over as police chief in April this year.

The joint elements of the Pangasinan Police Provincial Office, Provincial Public Safety Company, Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG), Dagupan City Police, the Regional Intelligence Unit and the PDEA, however, failed to bag Erlo Garcia, a provincial high-value target and included in President Duterte’s drug watch list, who was not in his house when lawmen arrived.

Nevertheless, Lee said Garcia will still be charged with violation of R.A. 10591 or illegal possession of firearms after finding one Cal. 45 with one magazine and seven bullets, and RA 9165 and five pieces of sealed plastic sachets containing shabu, one disposable lighters and five pieces of crumpled aluminum foil in his house.

Lawmen found one Armscor 99 mm. pistol with one magazine assembly containing 7 bullets and one 12-gauge shotgun with 12 bullets from the house of Aries Victorio.

The warrant served by Ricardo Domingo de la Cruz, listed as target number 7, yielded negative result.

Found by lawmen in the house of Jun Victorio, a close relative of Aries and also of the barangay chairman, was one 9 mm. pistol with one magazine containing seven bullets, including one 12-gauge shot gun and 18 bullets.

Asked by newsmen if the arrest of the suspects would soon put Barangay Pugaro in the list of drug-cleared barangays, Lee said Erlo Garcia is still unaccounted for.

Twenty-eight of the 31 barangays of Dagupan City are already drug-cleared with the exception of Pugaro, Calmay and Barangay 2 & 3.

Ortiz said Sitios Aliguas (Aling) in Pantal and Silongan in Bonuan Binloc remain drug-cleared but are being closely monitored by the police. (Leonardo Micua)
