Transfer of Dagupan City hall endorsed

THE City Development Council (CDC) has endorsed the transfer of the present city hall located at A.B. Fernandez Avenue in Dagupan City to Barangay Pantal near the Judge Jose de Venecia Sr. Expressway Extension.

The endorsement, incorporated in the Comprehensive Development Program for 2017-2022, was approved in a meeting at City Museum convened by Mayor Belen T. Fernandez.

The proposal, moved by lawyer Cornelia Español, president of the Dagupan Senior Citizens Federation, was unanimously endorsed by members of the CDC.

Español cited the overcrowding in present location of the city hall in proposing the relocation of the city hall to another area.

Additionally, she said neighboring towns have already built their respective new municipal halls and Dagupan as a major economic center, she said deserves a new building in a better location, outside the business district.

Fernandez presented to the meeting the city’s Comprehensive Development Program (CDP) for 2017 to 2022 along with the 1st Supplemental Annual Investment Plan for 2017 and the Supplemental Budget number 1 for calendar year 2017.

Other projects listed are: construction of a library, general services office and motor pool at Careenan area, chest center, city’s sports complex and procurement of sports equipment and tools, and repair and improvement of the city’s markets and construction of road leading to Tondaligan Park.

Also endorsed by the council are: construction of roads leading to the boardwalk and esplanade in Barangay Pantal, improvement of streetscape of the Pantal-Lucao growth center, purchase of a lot for the city’s slaughter house and the construction of the same and its facilities, redevelopment of Tondaligan, development of the Pugaro Beach, rehabilitation of creeks, construction of flood gates, construction of another three-storey evacuation center in Bonuan Boquig, river redevelopment program in Barangays Lasip Chico, Malued, Pantal and to Lasip Grande.

The other projects are the upgrading of roads and drainage systems in different barangays, beautification of the central business district, purchase of garbage equipment for the city’s zero garbage campaign, livelihood program for fisher folk, purchase of lot as site for the government employee housing project, bangus export program, flood control projects, purchase of lot for the new fish market and construction of fish market, among others.
