Rosales, Bayambang, San Nicolas, Alaminos win 1st day

1st INTER-LGU UNITY VOLLEYBALL GAMES

LINGAYEN — Volleyball players from the local government units of Rosales, Bayambang, San Nicolas and Alaminos City hauled their first wins against their rival contingents in the initial play-offs of the 1st Pangasinan Inter-LGU Unity Games 2017 Quarterfinal rounds held at the Calasiao gymnasium on June 22.

LGU Rosales which was spearheaded by no-less than its local chief executive, Mayor Susan P. Casareno, toppled Urdaneta City team by leading the 1st and second sets that ended the third scheduled match at 66-53 final score.

Close fight between the teams of Alaminos City and Sta. Barbara sizzled on the first match with 69-64 in favor of Alaminos.

The second match which featured teams San Nicolas and Sual favored the eastern town as it won all three sets of the game, 75-52 final score. This also took place in the fourth match wherein Bayambang team dominated all three sets against Mangatarem team with 75-53 final score.

Earlier, Provincial Sports Development and Management Council (PSDMC) Executive Officer Modesto M. Operania said that plans are underway for the creation of a sports activity dubbed Pangasinan Youth Games which is intended for 15 years old and below. Said activity will serve as a preparation for Batang Pinoy Competition and the upcoming Pangasinan Sports Academy.

As of press time, quarter final games for basketball are currently played in the same venue on June 23.

First match of basketball quarterfinals was won by the powerful team of Mangaldan which edged its opponent Alaminos City, 89-86.
