JdV to DU30: Form gov’t of national unity

A GOVERNMENT of national unity will break the “walls of divisiveness and ensure the country to move forward and fast.”

This was suggested by newly appointed special envoy on inter-cultural dialogue, former Speaker Jose de Venecia Jr., who said President Duterte, who is enjoying “tremendous popularity,” is in the best position to form a government of national unity.

He made the suggestion during the familiarization tour of North Luzon congressmen during stop to Dagupan City en route to Ilocos provinces.

He pointed out that a government of national unity never happened in the past and expressed confidence that it can happen under the Duterte administration.

He cited the problems posed by the ISIS (Islamic State in Iraq and Syria) in Mindanao, the settlement of claims in the West Philippine Sea, the pending peace agreement with the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) and the Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF), ending the terroristic activities of the Abu Sayyaf that will be addressed by his proposal.

Most importantly, he said, with a government of national unity in place, President Duterte can mobilize all elements and societies to break the backs of poverty in the Philippines.

De Venecia also called on all officials of Pangasinan to unite and see the beginnings of a government of national unity to hopefully make Pangasinan the model throughout the country. (Leonardo Micua)
