LINGAYEN – The Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) held a coordinating conference with various agencies for a review of their operational preparedness in anticipation of calamities that may occur during rainy season.

Dubbed as “Oplan Kahandaan sa Tag-Ulan,” PDRRMO chief Luchinvar O. Oro presided over the conference last June 1 that tackled the updating of Equipage of member agencies/offices for timely and effective response in times of disasters or calamities.

Oro, specifically, reminded the agencies of the need to enhance their capabilities in disaster management through proper information sharing, citing the need for baseline data to be included in the upcoming GeoCloud Integrated Information System which is expected to go full steam soonest.

Gov. Amado I. Espino, III, along with Oro, Board Member Angel Baniqued, Jr, Lingayen Mayor Josefina V. Castaneda, and Dagupan City Mayor Belen T. Fernandez attended a three-day training on 2nd Knowledge Co-Creation Program for better understanding of GeoCloud in Kawasaki, Japan last month.

The GeoCloud project, the first of its kind in the country, will be launched in Lingayen, Dagupan City and Binmaley to help improve Disaster Risk and Reduction Management systems.

For this purpose, PDRRMO has asked all member agencies to submit updated lists of manpower resources and disaster response equipment for consolidation.

Present during the coordinating conference are representatives of CENPELCO, DECORP, PANELCO 1 AND PANELCO III, Agno Flood Control System, Dept. of Public Works and Highways, Pangasinan PNP, Phil. Navy, Phil. Army, Phil. Red Cross and Bureau of Fire Protection. (PIO/RRB)
