BAYAMBANG–A barangay chairman of Bayambang, tagged as a high value target (HVT) for illegal drugs, was arrested following a raid by a police team led by the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) in Barangay Ambayat 2nd here at early morning. on May 31, Wednesday.

Arrested based on two of three search warrants issued by Judge Jaime Dojillo Jr., acting executive judge of Branch 57 of the Regional Trial Court in San Carlos City, was Larry Verceles, barangay chairman of Ambayat 2nd.

Seized from the house of Verceles were one heat-sealed plastic sachet and four aluminum foil strips suspected to contain shabu, aluminum foil strips containing shabu residue, one disposable lighter and five bullets for Cal. 45 pistol.

The police confirmed that Verceles is listed as high value target (HVT) of the Bayambang Police Station.

The raiders included elements of the Provincial Public Safety Company based in Alaminos City, the 102nd Police Maritime Group and the Bayambang police.

Verceles and the confiscated/seized items were brought at CIDG Pangasinan office in Lingayen for documentation and proper disposition.

A case for violation of Republic Act No. 10591(Comprehensive Law on Firearms and Ammunition) and violation of RA 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drug Act of 2002) are being readied against Verceles. (Leonardo Micua)
