Twin siblings drown in Infanta

INFANTA—A twin siblings vacationing with their relatives drowned along the Nayom River in Sitio Dusok, Barangay Nayom in Infanta at 3:00 p.m. of April 30, an incident that devastated their family from Iloilo province.

The victims were identified by the police as Rico Candado and his brother Rey, both 16 years old and natives of Barangay Cadinglian, Oton, Iloilo who were vacationing with their aunt in Infanta, some 80 kilometers southwest of Dagupan near the Zambales border.

The incident happened when the twins and their cousins John Mark Mila, Jim Peligro Moises, both 15; Gabriel More, 14; Jerome Mosanto, 12; and John Boy Basuel Mila, 12, went swimming after attending a baptism celebration at the bank of Nayom river.

While swimming, Rico Candado noticed his brother Rey to be drowning and tried to rescue him but both ended up being carried by strong current to the deeper portion of the river.

Their cousin, John Mark Mila, tried to rescue both boys but failed.
