THIS year’s Labor Day celebration in Region 1 will be highlighted by job and business fairs, the Department of Labor and Employment-Regional Office No. I (DOLE-RO1) said.

Regional Director Nathaniel Lacambra said the labor agency will adopt the Trabaho, Negosyo, Kabuhayan (TNK), a collaboration with the Department of Trade and Industry on employment generation and facilitation, report from DOLE-RO1 said.

He said three job and business fairs will be held on May 1 at three venues, namely, CB Mall in Urdaneta City and Lingayen in Pangasinan, and Robinsons Place in San Nicolas, Ilocos Norte.

“We make it easy and fast for jobseekers to find jobs that fit their qualifications, interests and career inclinations while we continue to review our entrepreneurship and livelihood programs to improve our assistance to those seeking livelihood and want to venture into entrepreneurial activities,” Lacambra said.

This year’s theme, “Matatag na Kabuhayan at Trabaho Tungo sa Progresibong Pagbabago”, underscores the agency’s role in providing opportunities for decent work and economic growth as enshrined in the TNK.

The concept is a blueprint to achieve keep unemployment level down to five percent by creating 7.5 million jobs mainly in key employment generating sectors (KEGS) in the manufacturing, agri-business, construction, tourism, IT-BPM, transportation and logistics, and retail trade sectors.

One-stop employment and legal services will also be made available by POEA, OWWA, TESDA, PRC, NCMB, NLRC, RTWBP, SSS, PhilHealth and Pag-IBIG to job seekers, new graduates and workers re-entering the labor market. (Tita Roces)
