Sexagenarian woman shot dead by gunman

MANGATAREM– A sexagenarian sari-sari store owner was gunned down by an unknown suspect who posed as candy buyer on May 16 in Barangay Bueno here.

Shot dead was Nenita De Guzman, 61 who was inside her sari-sari store when the gunman who pretended to buy candies shot her on the head.

She was pronounced dead on arrival by her attending physician at the Region 1 Medical Center in Dagupan City.

The suspect escaped on board a motorcycle.

Police investigators are looking at her lending business as the possible motive for the killing.

Meanwhile, in a separate shooting incident, unknown suspects riding in tandem on May 16 sprayed a black Toyota Fortuner with plate number AAO 821 owned by Adrian Oria, resident of Barangay Acop, Rosales town.

The vehicle was parked along Zone 4, Barangay Bayaoas, Urdaneta City by its owner who was then attending a party when the perpetrators shot it.

Scene of the Crime Investigators recovered seven pieces of fired cartridge cases and one fired bullet of caliber 45 at the crime scene.

Motive for the incident is still unknown. (Tita Roces)
