RICE ACHIEVER AWARDEE

STA. BARBARA – The provincial government said research and development in  agriculture has paid off. Pangasinan has been hailed again as a Rice Achiever Awardee.

Gov. Amado Espino III said all the years of preparation led to positive results for Pangasinan in the field of agriculture particularly for palay and corn growers.

Dahil nanalo na naman tayo ng Rice Achiever Award, mas ganado ang ating mga farmers… Alam naman natin na pag malaki ang ani, malaki din ang kita nila,” Espino said during the distribution of farm service facilities, this town.

As consistent winner for rice, Espino attributes the feat to the good quality of farming land in Pangasinan and no disastrous storm has visited Pangasinan in the past years.

He noted that farmers today are also more cautious and conscious of taking care of the land they are tilling as well as their crops.

Dalisay Moya, officer-in-charge of the Provincial Agriculture Office said harvest has performed better in 2016 than in 2015 with Pangasinan producing almost 61 percent of the harvest in Region I. (PIA-Pangasinan/ VHS)
