New teacher arrested for extortion

THE Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) in Pangasinan arrested a teacher for blackmailing and extorting money from a college student in exchange for not uploading the sex video of the victim and her girlfriend.

P/Chief Inspector Crispin Banes, OIC-CIDG Pangasinan identified the suspect as Jackilyn Junio y Malicdem a.k.a. Jeez Arel Aquino, 21 years old, a resident of Barangay Telbang in Bayambang and an employee of the Bayambang municipal government who recently passed the board exam.

She was arrested on May 4 after receiving P4,700 remitted by her victim, Xavier Ian Palaganas, resident of Barangay Buenlag 2nd, Bayambang, during an entrapment operation in San Carlos City. Seized from the suspect were the cellphone containing the sex video, P4,790 cash and a copy of reference number from Smart Padala.

Banes said the victim lost his cellphone that had the video clip with his girlfriend.   The suspect claimed that the video was only given to her and she was able to trace the owner and his through Facebook.

Last April 25, the suspect demanded and received P2,000 from the victim sent through Smart Padala in exchange for not uploading sex videos in the internet.

Noting how the victim easily complied, the suspect again demanded P5,000 on May 4 again through Smart Padala where she was finally arrested.

The suspect and the confiscated items were brought to Pangasinan CIDG Office in Lingayen for proper documentation and disposition.  A case of robbery with threat and intimidation and violation of Republic Act 9995 (Anti-Photo and Video Voyeurism Act of 2009) was filed against the suspect in San Carlos City.

“People should not be careless with their cellphones especially knowing they have incriminating videos of themselves in them,” Banes said. (Nora Dominguez/Tita Roces)
