LINGAYEN–Finally, P/Senior Supt. Ronald Oliver Lee was given a permanent status as police director of Pangasinan.

Gov. Amado Espino III announced Lee’s appointment and said he already kissed the word “acting” goodbye as appended to his position as provincial director.

Espino said Lee received his designation as permanent director last week.

He said “Camp Crame listened to the voice of the people of Pangasinan through the Sangguniang Panlalawigan which passed three successive resolutions asking that Lee be given a permanent status as provincial director.”

He added the provincial board took note of Lee’s excellent performance since he became officer-in-charge at the Pangasinan police office and later as acting provincial director.

The board was aware that Lee has been instrumental in the early success of the war on drugs in Pangasinan that led to more than 80 percent of the affected villages being cleared.

It has been about 10 years since Pangasinan, one of the most populous provinces in the country, has not been favored with the appointment of a permanent police director, Espino said.

The provincial government has been asking for a permanent police director but all these calls were not heeded.

The provincial board said as permanent police director, Lee enjoys a security of tenure and this can finish the unfinished job of clearing the province of illegal drugs.

He added that he and the other provincial officials are working perfectly well with Lee and therefore he deserves his appointment as permanent police director. (Leonardo Micua)
