FOURTEEN clients of the city’s Sagip User Rehabilitation and Empowerment (SURE) program at Sitio Aliguas in Barangay Pantal received financial aid from Mayor Belen T. Fernandez in one of her regular visitations in the barangays on April 24.

Along with Punong Barangay Julie Perez and members of the barangay Council of Pantal and Dagupan City Police Station Chief of Police P/Supt. Franklin Ortiz, Fernandez handed-over to the self-confessed drug personalities financial aid ranging from P5,000 to P10,000 as livelihood assistance.

SURE focal person Erjohn Pangilinan said the surrenderers went through the process directed by the SURE program and were trained on the livelihood program of their choice by the City Social Welfare and Development Office headed by Leah Aquino under Project BELEN.

Aside from the financial aid, the city nutrition office has been conducting a 12-day feeding program for the children in the area.

“We are already half-way in the implementation of the 120-day feeding for our malnourished children till they obtain the desirable and normal weight appropriate for their age,” said Fernandez.

Meanwhile, Ortiz urged the residents to live up to their place’s name as Sitio Aliguas and never to return to their old ways.

He asked them to cooperate with the police authorities to maintain peace and order and a drug-free Sitio Aliguas. (Joseph C. Bacani/CIO)
