Binmaley, Sto. Tomas have new police chiefs

RESHUFFLING is inevitable.

This policy, according to P/Chief Inspector Norman Florentino, is true particularly in explaining the unexpected reshuffling of the chiefs of police in the towns of Binmaley and Sto. Tomas.

But this time, the reason of reshuffling is because the two police chiefs have to undergo schooling as a requirement for the promotion in rank, Florentino said.

P/Supt. Mona Asis, chief of police in Binmaley, was succeeded by P/Supt. Jackie Candelario, who was earlier relieved as police chief of Urdaneta City after he met an accident.

Asis is due for promotion to senior superintendent after her schooling, Florentino said.

P/Sr. Inspector  Herminio Olivares, police chief of of Santo Tomas, was succeeded by P/Sr. Inspector Regin Cabico. Like Asis, he is also due for promotion.

He said, there are three requirements that police officers need to do in order to be promoted: mandatory schooling, eligibility from National Police Commission and time (a three year assignment).

In both cases, Florentino clarified that their relief was not a result of PNPs one-strike policy when an officer failed to prevent the commission of a sensational crime in his or her jurisdiction. (Nora Dominguez)
