Two drown in Agno River

SAN CARLOS CITY — Two female teenagers drowned in Agno River along Barangay Salinap here on March 27.

The fatalities were identified as Mary Jane Tamayo, 15 and Michelle Sudio, 13, both Grade 8 students of Salinap High School.

Police investigation showed the victims and three other female companions decided to swim in the river but the two went farther and in a deeper portion.

The two were recovered around 4:00 p.m. or one and a half hours past when they drowned.

They were declared dead on arrival at the Virgen Milagrosa Hospital here.  No foul play was established by the police.

Meanwhile, report from Chief Inspector Gregorio Abungan, deputy police chief and investigation officer, said on March 28, the school’s principal Maribel Salvador, class adviser John John Carino and teacher Jumann Audson Corpuz appeared to the city police office and confirmed there was photo assignment given to their students as a requirement for the school curriculum.

However, Corpuz clarified that last submission was last March 16, 2017.

The teachers said there were no more regular classes but their students are required to go to school for the completion of their remaining requirements. (Tita Roces)
