Sand sculpting contest open to region’s sculptors

LINGAYEN – This year’s sand sculpting contest, one of the highlight of the annual Pista’y Dayat celebration, will be open to professional sand sculptors in the region.

The contest being organized by the Pangasinan Housing and Urban Development Coordinating, Office (PHUDCO) will be held on April 30.

PHUDCO officer-in-charge Angelito A. Pedeglorio said Gov. Amado Espino III has directed the opening of the contest to participants from other provinces in Region 1 as well as adding a category for professionals.

Based on the guidelines, the competition will now have three categories—professional, student/youth, and children.

Professional category is limited only to five participating groups while 15 participating groups will be accepted for the student/youth category and five groups for the children category.

Interested participants can get the official entry forms from the Sand Sculpting Secretariat at the PHUDCO, 2ndFloor Malong Building located at the Capitol Compound.

Prizes at stake this year are: (Professional Category) Champion- P40,000; 1st runner-up- P30,000; 2nd runner-up-P20,000; Consolation Prize- P8,000 per qualified entry. (Youth Category) Champion- P30,000; 1st runner-up- P20,000; 2ndrunner-up- P10,000; Consolation Prize- P3,000 per qualified entry. (Children Category) Champion- P4,000; 1st runner-up P3,000; 2nd runner-up- P2,000; Consolation Prize- P1,500 per qualified entry.
