AFTER the generally peaceful observance of the Holy Week, the Pangasinan Police are now focused on the security of residents and visitors in popular tourist destinations in the province.

P/Sr. Superintendent Ronald Lee, acting-police provincial director, has ordered the implementation of security measures around tourist destinations and malls during the summer vacation.

P/ Chief Inspector Norman Florentino said, the security adjustments include high visibility of police and monitoring of historical churches to beaches, malls and other local destinations.

He said police visibility will be higher inside and outside malls especially during Saturdays and Sundays.

Pangasinan Police remain on full alert status to ensure that there will be no spillover of terrorist attack from Mindanao to Pangasinan.

Florentino said to ensure public security, Pangasinan Police have maximized the deployment of forces and intensified its checkpoint operations in the, strategic places in the boundaries of Pangasinan with La Union, Nueva Ecija, Tarlac in Zambales and Benguet.

The shoreline is also closely monitored by the PNP Maritime, Philippine Coast Guard (PSG) and Bantay Dagat Team in the coastal municipalities.

Meanwhile, he said the leadership of the PNP is ready at anytime to reassign non- performing chiefs of police. “We have a one-strike policy in effect,” Florentino said. (Nora Dominguez)
