Mangatarem’s 5th top drug personality nabbed
MANGATAREM–The town’s number five drug personality in the watch list was cornered and arrested in a drug operation after he tried to evade arrest by shooting the pursuing policemen Wednesday night along Barangay Zamora here.
The suspect was identified as Lawrence Cruz, 42, a resident of Barangay Caoile Olegario this town.
After the police received a report from a concerned citizen that a vehicle was parked suspiciously along the shoulder road of Barangay Pogonlomboy, they approached and were about to to inspect the vehicle when the driver of the vehicle sped off.
Upon reaching Barangay Zamora of this town, Cruz started shooting with his handgun at the patrollers chasing him on board a patrol car.
Soon as the patrollers returned fire, the suspect alighted from his car and ran but was soon cornered by the patrollers.
The police seized his Carbine and cal .40 handgun and the body search on the suspect found shabu and transaction money.
