Barangay captain nabbed for illegal guns, ammos

BINALONAN–A barangay captain here is being investigated following his arrest in a raid in his residence in Barangay Santiago for illegal possession of firearms on April 25.

Nabbed by virtue of search warrant issued by Executive Judge Ma. Ellen Aguilar of the Regional Trial Court, First Judicial Region, Branch 70, Burgos, was Manuel Pineda, 45.

Seized from Pineda were one homemade shotgun, a homemade magnum cal.22, a cal.45, nine pieces of live ammunition for cal.45, three bullets for 12-gauge shotgun, one live rifle grenade, nine bullets for M16 rifle, four bullets for cal.22, one magazine assembly for cal .45, one piece of assembly for magnum cal.22 and one explosive case for rifle grenade.

Though listed as High-Value Target (HVT)/Drug Personality of CIDG Region 1, no illegal drug was found by lawmen during the raid.

The search was done in the presence of other barangay officials.
