MAY 1 PISTA’Y DAYAT

LINGAYEN– Banca Parada, the colorful grand parade of over a hundred motorized bancas will again cruise along the historic Limahong Channel of the Agno River on May 1.

A regular feature of Pista’y Dayat, the fluvial parade will start from the staging area in Sitio Bantayan, Pangapisan Sur in Lingayen and proceed to Domalandan Bridge and end at the Banaga Bridge in Bugallon.

Limahong Channel, dug by 15th century Chinese Pirate Limahong for his daring escape when he was pursued by the Spanish colonizers.

The annual banca parada will showcase the benefits of clean river and tributaries to communities, a campaign that was launched by the governor’s predecessor and rallied people to support with the call ‘Ilog Ko, Aroen Tan Bilayen Ko’.

Depicting the theme ‘Masaganang Ilog at Karagatan, Yaman ng Pangasinan’, Banca Parada will be best viewed along the river banks starting from Sitio Bantayan, Pangapisan Sur, Lingayen, atop or under the Domalandan Bridge in Lingayen and near the fluvial parade culmination area in Banaga Bridge, Bugallon.

The winners of the fluvial parade will be named during the Pista’y Dayat commemorative program that will be led by Gov. Amado I. Espino, III. (PIO/MGNO)
