LAOAC— If you are passing through this town, you will note something different.

The town has established Thursday its ‘Discipline Zones’ to stop and reform the “pasaway” (undisciplined) among its residents by complying with local ordinances.

Mayor Silverio Alarcio Jr said the ‘Discipline Zone’ is about the strict enforcement of ordinances particularly the prohibition on loud motorcycle mufflers, no smoking area, anti-vagrancy, proper waste disposal, selling of prohibited alcoholic drinks to minors, loitering of students during school hours, among others in specific areas.

Alarcio launched the project during the inauguration of the new town police station building graced by Philippine National Police Chief Director General Ronald dela Rosa.

Signage are installed in conspicuous places in identified “Discipline” areas as model communities and to remind the townsfolk about need for strict compliance with ordinances.

Alarcio said model areas where strict compliance to their ordinances is expected have been identified.

“Sometimes we do not give importance to our ordinances so we wanted to bring back discipline in our community that once you enter in these discipline zones, you have to observe (them),” the mayor, a retired police general, said. (Tita Roces)
