Twin ‘wars’ pursued by Pangasinan PNP

LINGAYEN— The Pangasinan police has never been busier fighting two fronts and keeping a scorecard in the province in its war on illegal drug trade and gambling.

P/Sr. Superintendent Ronald Lee, acting provincial director, reported the arrest of 199 persons in 96 operations on illegal gambling that led to the confiscation of P37, 775 from the operations conducted from March 8 to 12.

However, he noted that no arrests were made in the towns of Burgos, Dasol, Mabini, Mangatarem, San Jacinto, Bautista, Laoac, Sto. Tomas, Natividad, Rosales, San Manuel, San Quintin, Sta. Maria and Umingan because no police operations were initiated.

Meanwhile, 46 drug personalities were arrested by PDEA and police operatives and seized 138 sachets of shabu and four grams of marijuana during the first four days of Double Barrel Reloaded in the campaign against illegal drugs.

In his report, P/Sr. Superintendent Ronald Lee, acting provincial director, said 47 operations were conducted from March 8 to 12.

During the Double Barrel Alpha, or the initial phase of carrying out the narco-war of the Duterte administration from July 2016 to Jan. 29, 2017 until it was suspended, the Pangasinan police conducted 1,221 operations that led to the arrest of 1,301 persons for illegal drugs.

During that period, they have confiscated a total of 574.57 grams of shabu and 581.3 grams of marijuana.

Meanwhile, Pangasinan police also reported the arrest of 212 persons and recovered 218 illegal firearms in 183 combined operations from July 1, 2016 to March 12, 2017 while 12 persons were arrested for illegal logging in 12 operations. Seized were illegally cut worth P108,960. (Tita Roces)
