DOUBLE BARREL RELOADED

LINGAYEN – The town’s police have intensified their Oplan Tokhang operations under Double Barrel Reloaded guidelines by tapping the Masa Masid of the Department of Interior and Local Government that involves the barangay officials in the campaign against illegal drugs.

P/Supt. Jackson Seguin, town police chief, said more operations will be launched in the weeks ahead.

Seguin said the new strategy was launched three days after the Masa Masid conference seminar last week, attended by town and barangay officials and representatives of Department of Education, religious sector and other non-government organizations.

So far, 29 barangays out of 32 in Lingayen have already been cleared of drugs.

He said Barangays Tumbar, Basing, Pangapisan Sur are set to be cleared after validating the accomplishments of all requirements set by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency.

Meanwhile, Seguin said his station continues to monitor illegal gambling activities in the town with the help of the barangay officials.

Seguin denied the operation of jueteng in Lingayen, and the regular betting at the off-fronton jai-alai station of Meridien Visata Gaming Corp. has been issued a permit.
