MBTF in Dubai for WCCD Global Cities Summit

DAGUPAN City was represented in the Global Cities Summit 2017 in Dubai by Mayor Belen T. Fernandez last March 7-9.

She was joined by Melykhen Bauzon of the city’s Public Alert and Response Monitoring Center, on the invitation of the World Council on City Data (WCCD) through Senator Art Eggleton of Canada, Chairman, Global City Leaders Advisory Board of WCCD and Dr. Patricia McCarney, president and Chief Executive Officer of WCCD.

The invitation was extended to Dagupan which is expected to be ISO 37120 certified, to join the global network dedicated to building more sustainable, prosperous, resilient and smart cities.

The summit’s theme was ‘Cities on the Global Stage – Data as the Universal Language’, and participated in by data-driven cities for a more sustainable and inclusive prosperity.

The WCCD has created the first international certification system and Global Cities Registry for ISO 37120, a new globally comparative international standard on city metrics and the first ISO standard on city indicators, developed by cities, for cities.

Cities certified in accordance with ISO 37120 will be recognized in the WCCD Global Cities Registry. It also allows city-to-city comparisons and displays data using cutting-edge visualizations and tailored trend analyses. (Joseph C. Bacani/CIO)
