Cops bust Sta. Barbara drug den

LINGAYEN–Less than a week after the Philippine National Police (PNP) was given the go-signal by President Duterte to resume anti-drug operations, nine high value targets (HVT) were arrested in Pangasinan, six of them suspected to be involved in the operation of a drug den in Sta. Barbara.

Operatives of the Philippine Drug enforcement Agency (PDEA) and the Sta. Barbara police identified the suspects arrested in Barangay Minien West in Sta. Barbara town at March 7 were Cherry Ann Corpuz, Christopher Galsim, Rommel Reyes, Mark Arzil Garcia, Mary Ann Laungayan and Angelito Vicente, all from Sta. Barbara town.

Initially targeted as high value target identified as 33-year-old Mary Ann Laungayan, law enforcers posed as buyers of shabu and ordered the illegal items thru mobile phone. As soon as anti-narcotics agents reportedly showed the cash, Mary Ann called 25-year-old Cherry Ann Corpuz to bring the sachets of shabu in front of her house where the exchange took place.

After the law enforcers verified the items, the operatives tried to arrest Laungayan but she managed to run towards the house and closed the door behind her but the operatives gave chase and cornered Mary Ann in a room where four Alsim, Reyes, Garcia and Vicente were huddled in the middle of a pot session.

Confiscated from them were six heat-sealed transparent sachets containing shabu, one heat-sealed transparent sachet containing marijuana, three improvised glass tooter and other drug paraphernalia including the buy-bust money of Php 1,000., and boodle money

The suspects are now facing cases for violation of Section 5, 6, 7, 11 Section 12 & 15 Art 2, of Republic 9165.

Meanwhile, a newly emerged drug personality was arrested in another buy-bust operation conducted by the police and PDEA in Barangay Tampac, Aguilar on March 7.

The suspect, Edwin dela Cruz Henry, a farmer, of Barangay Bayaoas, Aguilar, yielded one heat-sealed transparent plastic sachet containing shabu and the P500 buy-bust money.

In San Fabian, Marforie Ellarma, alias Boy, 40, was arrested in a buy-bust operation by PDEA-police operatives on same day.

Meanwhile, intelligence operatives of the Dagupan police arrested also on March 7, Salvador Pogoy, 31, a parking attendant of Careenan Street, one of the participants in a reported pot session held inside an abandoned house at Nueva Street in Barangay II and III.

Pogoy’s companions had already left when the operatives arrived after receiving a tip from an unidentified informer. Confiscated from him was one heat-sealed plastic sachet containing alleged shabu. (Leonardo Micua)
