BIR Region 1 surpasses last year’s collection

THE Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) again surpassed its collection target of P11 billion by collecting P11.9 billion, adding that they are, in fact, surpassing their targets every year.

This trend, Lee Caday, chief of the client support division of BIR Region 1, said will enable the regional office to target more than 16 percent higher than their total net collection last year in the amount of Php 11.9 billion.

This was bared by Caday who spoke during the KBP Forum last Thursday.

He said even with only limited manpower, BIR is now conducting rigorous tax mapping to update its data base of registered taxpayers.

At the same time, he reminded establishments that issuance of receipts is a mandatory requirement and need not have to wait for their customers to ask for their receipts.

There are many instances, he said, that stores, including many gasoline stations, would only issue receipts when their customers demand these from them.

He said this is the reason why BIR has been posting stickers in front of establishments stating “Ask for Receipt”.

At the same time, he said all BIR’s programs are in line with the reform program of President Duterte to restore back public trust in government, citing their slogan: BIR Para sa Tunay na Pagbabago. (Leonardo Micua)
