Teams to beat: Binmaley, Lingayean

1st GOVERNOR’S CUP INTER-TOWN BASKETBALL

LINGAYEN, Pangasinan- -Both Binmaley and Lingayen teams came out as the teams to beat after the elimination rounds with identical 9 wins and zero loss making them on top of their respective clusters in the 1st Governor’s Cup Inter-Town Basketball Tournament.

The other cluster leaders are (Eastern) Asingan and Urdaneta, (Northern) Manaoag.

The quarterfinal rounds of the tournament reel off on February 11 after the top four teams in each four conferences have bee determine.

The team standings per cluster are:

Western Conference

  1. Lingayen- 9 wins, 0 loss
  2. Alaminos- 8 wins, 1 loss
  3. Bugallon- 7 wins, 2 losses
  4. Labrador- 5 wins, 4 losses

Central Conference

  1. Binmaley- 9 wins, 0 loss
  2. Calasiao- 8 wins, 1 loss
  3. Bayambang- 7 wins, 2 losses
  4. Malasiqui- 4 wins, 5 losses

Eastern Conference

  1. Asingan- 7 wins, 1 loss
  2. Urdaneta- 7 wins, 1 loss
  3. Tayug- 6 wins, 2 losses
  4. Sto. Tomas- 6 wins, 2 losses

Northern Conference

  1. Manaoag- 7 wins, 1 loss
  2. Mangaldan- 6 wins, 2 losses
  3. Villasis- 6 wins, 2 losses
  4. San Manuel- 5 wins, 3

Espino said the most promising and valuable players in the games will form Pangasinan Teams 1 and 2 that will represent the province and seek to play against the country’s best the Philippine National Games and other invitational matches. (PIO/Ruby R. Bernardino)
