PD LEE DISAPPOINTED

EXPECT gridlock, bottlenecks and choke points to worsen during the holidays because of the continued refusal of the regional office of the Land Transportation Office (LTO) to deputize traffic enforcers in Dagupan City, Manaoag, Mangaldan, Calasiao, Binmaley and Lingayen.

This was the assessment of acting-Pangasinan Police Director P/Sr. Supt. Ronald Oliver Lee who could not contain his frustration and disappointment with the LTO officials for continuously rejecting his recommendation submitted through the LTO district offices.

He said if the LTO deputizes the traffic enforcers, much could be done to check traffic violations that create bottleneck.

He maintained that unless the violators are made to pay penalties to LTO, the erring motorists will continue to flout the traffic rules and local police are being blamed.

Meanwhile, Lee has ordered town police chiefs to clear roads and highways of all obstructions within the road-right-of-way along Lingayen-Binmaley-Dagupan Road, Calasiao, Mangaldan and Manaoag area to avoid traffic congestion. (Nora Dominguez)
