Strict enforcement of new Loading–Unloading zones ordered

THE Public Order and Safety Office (POSO) started informing all public utility vehicles plying the streets of the city about the new loading and unloading stations now in effect following the effectivity of City Ordinance 2076-2016, otherwise known as the Revised Comprehensive and mandatory Traffic Code of Dagupan.
The drivers and operators of PUVs plying the route of Bonuan Tondaligan were already briefed on the revised traffic ordinance especially on the implementation of the new loading and unloading stations by POSO chief retired SPO4 Carlito Ocampo before they were issued the new 2017 decal stickers.
Ocampo said all PUVs plying the streets of Dagupan will also be issued the 2017 decal stickers and all will also be required to undergo a brief orientation “so they will also be familiar with the new traffic rules and regulations and refrain from committing any violations thus avoid paying the corresponding penalties”.
Under the revised comprehensive and mandatory traffic code of the city the offender will have to pay the corresponding penalties ranging from P200, P300, P500 and P800 for every traffic violations from first offense to 4th offense, respectively.
For every violation from first to the fourth offense, the ordinance requires that violators will also undergo seminar on the traffic code of the city.
The decal sticker being issued by the city bears number coding for everyone to easily identify the stations where they are allowed to pick up passengers.
“We also require them to display the same number code inside their jeepneys for their passengers to be reminded anytime that they can only load and unload on the designated stations,” said Ocampo.
Ocampo also appealed to commuters to be guided accordingly on the new loading and unloading stations.
In addition, the city is also implementing clearing operations on illegal parking with the creation of Task Force Anti-Illegal Parking while ‘barkers’ are now being apprehended and discouraged from engaging in this kind of activity.
“Barkers are usually the front for “kotong” that is why we are waging a campaign against it as we want to have a “kotong”-free city. And we assure that our POSO personnel will never engage in this kind of activity which is what Mayor Belen wants,” said Ocampo. (Joseph C. Bacani/CIO)
