PANGASINAN’s new cycling pride Bugallon lass Marella Salamat will don the Philippine colors anew in the 2017 Southeast Asia Games (SEA) in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on August 19-31.

The 21-year-old University of the East dentistry student and winner of gold medal in the 2015 Singapore SEA Games on her first international race, will defend her crown in the 30-kilometer individual-time-trial event.

The multi-sport athlete Salamat, whose most loved sports are bowling, boxing and running, gained her prominence in world cycling by placing third in the World University Cycling Championship women’s road race held in Tagaytay City on March 18, 2016.

Salamat also earned the age category championship title of the Tour de Suisse Challenge 2016 and finished second overall in the women’s category. (Jesus Garcia, Jr.)
