BELEN-MAKING CONTEST

BARANGAY Poblacion Oeste was declared the big winner in this year’s Belen-Making Contest during the celebration of the Barangay Night at the city plaza on December 27.

It won the P50,000 as cash prize donated by former House Speaker Jose De Venecia Jr., his wife former Rep. Manay Gina de Venecia, and their son, 4th District Rep. Christopher “Toff” De Venecia.

Barangay Mangin won second place with a cash prize of P30,000 from Mayor Belen T. Fernandez, while Barangay Pantal placed third with a cash prize of P20,000, also from Mayor Fernandez.

Both Barangays Mamalingling and Tebeng received special prize of P10,000 each from Mayor Fernandez.

In the past, barangays displayed their ‘belen’ in their respective communities but this year, all the ‘belens’ were displayed at the Paseo de Belen along Jose de Venecia Sr. Expressway.

The Paseo de Belen will still be open till January 7. (CIO/ JCB)
