THE new practice of the Fernandez administration – not spending a single centavo for the staging and celebration of the city fiesta from the city government – was again adopted in the just concluded Dagupan City Fiesta.

This was disclosed by Councilor Dennis Canto, hermano mayor of the city fiesta, who said the fiesta was “a tremendous success in view of the big number of residents that participated and the number of visitors that came to the city to join the celebration.”

He said all the events were bankrolled by sponsors, citing Globe, Smart, Coca Cola, Pepsi, among them, and other local organizations.

He said the list of donors and support organizations will be reported out by the executive committee soon.

He said the “Paseo de Belen” turned out to be one of the biggest crowd-drawers where many families gathered to view nativity scenes.

He thanked Mayor Belen Fernandez for naming him hermano mayor despite the fact that he’s being a neophyte councilor, and the barangay chairmen for extending their full cooperation.

If another opportunity arises for him to serve in the same capacity, Canto said he will not hesitate to accept it again knowing he is serving the interests of all the people of Dagupan City.

He cited the benefits of the jobs fair enabled Dagupenos to be hired on the spot and the medical mission enabled children and adults get free consultation and medicine while the “DC Got Talent” discovered many hidden talents of Dagupeños.

He added, he hopes all these activities will be retained in this year’s fiesta even as he said since the past fiesta provided a lot of learning experience to most members of the executive committee, Paseo de Belen will even be better in 2017. (Leonardo Micua)
