Lingayen – Seeking to further strengthen the disaster response capability of province, the provincial government of Pangasinan led by Governor Amado ‘Pogi’ I. Espino, III has forged ties with seven organizations to serve as Accredited Community Disaster Volunteers (ACDVs).

Governor Espino, along with top officials of Pangasinan Bikers’ Association, Inc., Mike Delta Force Intelligence Communication Group – Pangasinan Chapter, Samahang Magdalo – Pangasinan Chapter, Federation of Christian and Muslim Volunteers Brigade Inc., – Cops Rescue, Army Reservist Disaster Response and Management Team, Kabalikat Civicom, Inc. and Pangasinan Delta Com Federation of the Philippines, Inc. signed the commitment and undertaking to cap the Disaster Risk Reduction and Management  (DRRM) Training for Provincial Community Disaster Volunteers held on December 20 at the Narciso Ramos Sports and Civic Center, here.

“Nothing beats the heart of a volunteer,” said Governor Espino, who hailed hundreds of community disaster volunteers during the DRRM training, as he stressed that nothing rewards the effort and sacrifices exerted by volunteers in serving the public.

Assuring that he will sustain and further strengthen the solid foundation of DRRM set by his father and predecessor, former Pangasinan Governor and now 5th district Representative Amado T. Espino, Jr., Governor Pogi said that the tie-up forged between the provincial government and the seven ACDV organizations is “a reaffirmation of commitment on their respective organizations and commitment to the province of Pangasinan.”

Stated in the commitment and undertaking signed by the ACDVs, the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (PDRRMC) is directed to control and supervise the participation of ACDVs in monitoring activities and matters of actual and/or impending calamity and disaster, both natural and man-made.

The ACDVs are also tapped to complement, in time and resources, the capabilities of PDRRMC in communication, monitoring, search and rescue and retrieval operations; augment PDRRMO’s manpower and logistical resources in the event of a major disaster outside its area of jurisdiction.

Part of the tie-up, the ACDVs shall also undergo DRRM enhancement trainings and other collaborations as they are also engaged to recommend and assist in the formulation of DRRM plans and programs.

Witnessing the signing of commitment of undertaking was Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Officer Rhodyn Lochinvar Oro. /MGNO
