THE city government has already installed three traffic lights and expects to install two more early next year.

This was bared by Public Order and Safety Office chief Carlito Ocampo who, however said, the three traffic lights, are still in the process of adjustment.

The first three are located at the corner of A,B. Fernandez Avenue and Arellano St., Rizal St. and, Perez Blvd and M.H. del Pilar St.

The next two will be installed at the corner of Perez Boulevard and Burgos Street and the corner of Perez Boulevard and Rizal Street.

“We are still in the process of adjustment in the middle of the Dagupan fiesta, with thousands of visitors coming to and fro,” Ocampo said.

Mayor Fernandez noted slight improvement with the installation of the three traffic lights and efforts of the members of the Public Order and Safety Office (POSO), as well as to the Sangguniang Panlungsod that passed the amendment to the traffic ordinance.

She, however, conceded that bottlenecks inevitably occur during peak hours of the yuletide season.

“I think, the number one factor for the improved traffic is the discipline on the part of drivers and pedestrians,” she said.

She said records showed that fines from traffic violations used to net P100,000 per month starting January.  The fines today have reached a high P400,000 to P500,000.
