3 persons die, 18 hurt in motorcycle mishaps

ROAD ACCIDENTS ON X’MAS DAY

LINGAYEN–Three persons died while 18 others were hurt in different road accidents in the province on Christmas Day.

The Pangasinan Provincial Police office said Maria Jasmin Abarra, 48, was declared dead on arrival in Western Pangasinan District Hospital while children named Jero Abarra, Ereckson Mendez, both aged 13, Kim Carlo Roy, 11, and Luige Roy 9, all residents of Barangay Dulacac, Alaminos City were injured.

The victims were on board a tricycle converted as garong (local vehicle used to ferry pigs) driven by Danny Abarra, husband of Maria Jasmin, when it collided with a tricycle driven by Richard Fontanilla, 24, from Barangay Lucap, Alaminos City.

Both Danny Abarra and Fontanila were also injured.

In Barangay Pinmilapil in Sison town, three persons riding a motorcycle on Christmas Day fell off after the driver lost control of the bike.

Benjamin Pascua, resident of Barangay Bulaoen, San Fabian, died while two of his companions, namely Marvin Rocapor, 32, motorcycle driver, and Marvin Galase, of legal age, suffered slight injuries and brought to Rosario District Hospital in La Union.

They were in full speed traversing the road when the driver (Rocapor) lost control of his motorcycle that caused them to fall off the motorcycle.

In Barangay San Jose, Bani town, Narciso Miranda, 57, resident of Barangay Pobalcion, was declared dead on arrival in Western Pangasinan District Hospital in Alaminos City in two motorcycles collision.

Injured were Dennis Antero, motorcycle driver with back riders Cristel Antero and Jennifer Antero, of legal age and residents of Barangay Tugui Grande, Bani, as well as Miranda’s back rider Romy Quinto.

In another motorcycles collision in Barangay Roxas, Anda, Pangasinan also on Dec. 25, two persons were injured, namely Alfonso Abuan, motorcycle driver, 50, from Barangay Macaleeng, and Benjamin Camaso, 30, also motorcycle driver, resident of Barangay Awile, both of said town.

They were brought to Bolinao Community Hospital for treatment.

Four other passengers were also hurt in separate tricycle-motorcycle collision on Dec. 25 in Barangay Mal-ong, Anda.

Hurt were Joie Damscao, 51, tricycle driver with his passengers namely Lolita Camba, 58, and Jimmy Camba, 69, all residents of said place. Also injured was Richard Cacho, 26, Philippine National Police member of Regional Public Safety Battalion 1, Camp Florendo Parian San Fernando La Union and a resident of Barangay Dolaoan of same town who was driving a motorcycle during the accident.  (Tita Roces)
