P/Supt. Jackie Candelario, deputy police provincial director for operations, gave the assurance minutes after receiving the order of the Chief PNP directing the police to  go on Terror Alert No. 3.

He said the order means there was an imminent threat exists, particularly in Metro Manila, but clarified that no threat has been noted in Pangasinan.

When asked by newsmen what can be expected the PNP will do here in Pangasinan to enforce the PNP chief’s order, Candelario said since the state of national emergency declared by President Rodrigo Duterte sometime in August as an aftermath of the Davao bombing is still in effect and has not been lifted, the prescribed actions and activities will simply be intensified.

“We will adopt stricter security measures especially in areas where possible acts of terrorism group may likely occur,” he said.

At the same time, Candelario said the police will intensify their intelligence network activities to foil any attempt in the province by any group or persons that will plot terroristic acts.

He said people can expect their provincial police to be very vigilant and will always be prepared to thwart any attempt at disturbing the peace.

Meanwhile, Candelario said PPPO does not see any need to request any augmentation force from the Philippine Army anymore during the holidays and will continue to rely on efforts of their force multipliers, concerned citizens in the barangays.

He said PPPO can always call the Provincial Public Safety Company based in Tayug led by Supt. Virgilio Pascua if an emergency arises.

Under Terror Alert No. 3, the province should expect more checkpoints. (Leonardo Micua)
