Motorists slam closure of one lane of Curambeng Bridge
DAILY BOTTLENECK IN BINMALEY
MOTORISTS and riding public are up in arms over the closure of one lane of the Curambeng Bridge in Biec Duyaw Binmaley that has resulted in daily bottleneck from Poblacion area to Naguilayan and sometimes as far as the Gayaman Road.
DPWH 2nd and 4th District Engineer Rodolfo Dion appealed to the public for understanding because the retrofitting of the bridge is necessary to prevent it from imminent collapse.
Dion said, Curambeng Bridge’s foundation is already weak because of damage suffered from the 1990 earthquake.
He clarified that although the project is within his area of responsibility, he said he could not closely monitor the project because of some protocol issues with the project engineer who failed to coordinate with the DPWH District Office.
Dion said the project implementation of Bocboc Bridge particularly in the approach of Aguilar side was not coordinated with his District Office.
The Regional Office of DPWH is implementing the project of Curambeng and Bocboc Bridge. (Nora Dominguez)
