City’s Blood Council conducts blood-letting

THE Dagupan City Blood Council collected 184 units of blood from donors in its third blood-letting program this year conducted at the CSI the City Mall Atrium on November 24 in partnership with Lyceum Northwestern University, the Region 1 Medical Center and the City Health Office.

The “Blood mo, Type ko, Free ‘to!”, a regular program of the council organized by Mayor Belen T. Fernandez to provide indigent dengue patients access to blood.

Rhyza Ventenilla, the council’s focal person, said some 100 patients have already been a benefitted by the blood collected under the program since its launching in 2013.

A total of 207 blood donors came to donate their blood but 23 were deferred.  Meanwhile, 37 clients underwent blood typing conducted by the City Health Office.

Among those who supported the program were employees of the Dagupan City Hall, employees of the City Supermarket Incorporated (CSI), Department of Education and the Dagupan City Police Station (DCPS).
