2017 Mayor Agbayani bikefest on January 7
ELATED by the success of two cycling road races held last year, San Fabian Mayor Constante Agbayani will hold its first cycling event in 2017 during the celebration of its town fiesta on January 7.
Dubbed this year as “Asipukpokan ed San Fabian 2017 Mayor Agbayani Cycling Challenge,” the road saga which will be conducted this time in three categories and will start and finish across the town’s municipal hall.
It will pass Damortis and Rosario, La Union, twice, with a distance of 105 kilometers for the master division. The grandmaster and women’s classes will be run in a shorter course, 52.5 kilometers, and expected to lure some riders from neighboring places like La Union, Nueva Ecija, Tarlac and Manila.
“We are holding the bikefest annually as our contribution to the province’ sports development program,” said Agbayani. “We have produced some prominent cyclists in my town like Steve Dacayo, Sherwin Carrera, Rene Esteban, to name some, and hopefully they will shine on January 7,” he added.
Cash prizes, trophies and medals will be awarded for the top ten master division finishers and top five and top three for the grandmaster and women’s category winners, respectively. (Jesus Garcia, Jr.)
