LINGAYEN – The Provincial Employment Services Office (PESO) staged the 2016 Pangasinan OFW Recognition & Fun Fair last November 14-16 at the Narciso Ramos Sports and Civic Center for thousands of family members of Overseas Filipino Worker (OFW) as a fitting homage to the country’s “modern heroes” working abroad.

Gov. Amado Espino, III, who was named “Kuya ng Pamilyang OFW by the Pangasinan OFW Families Federation, Inc. (POFFI), told his guests that the event is the provincial government’s continuing acknowledgement of the sacrifices of the OFWs and their families.

He pledged to the OFWs through their families that the provincial government will continue to strive to do its best to shape a better Pangasinan for their benefit when they return.

Fun activities during the event included parlor games for all ages, workshop for kids, massage service, fair booths and mini-sports fest of volleyball 3-on-3 games.

Barangay coordinators and zone volunteers were cited during the program for their efforts in overseeing the plight of OFW families and support the provincial government and POFFI.

PESO manager Alex Ferrer, also the Pangasinan Migration and Development Council chairman, said the event is part of the council’s program to strengthen and advance the cause of Pangasinense migrant workers and their families. (PIO)
