SAN CARLOS CITY—The city’s residents are looking forward to more employment opportunities next year when three shopping malls being constructed simultaneously in the city today finally open for business.

In his first 100 days report on Oct. 10, Mayor Joseres Resuello cited the ongoing construction of San Carlos Town Center by Citi Properties Inc., the City Mall by Double Dragon Industries, Inc. and Magic Commercial Center 2.

The San Carlos Town Center is located in Rizal Avenue, while City Mall is along Rizal Avenue-Bugallon-Posadas Streets while the Magic Commercial Center is being built on Roxas Boulevard.

“These malls will generate more jobs for our kabaleyans (citymates),” Resuello said.

Except for Double Dragon, the two mall ventures are Pangasinan-based.

“Hopefully by September next year, Town Center will open,” the mayor said.

Resuello said the city government stands to earn millions in additional revenues once the establishments start operating.

He said he was assured by the mall owners that they will closely observe city ordinances that seek to protect the environment.

There are already four malls operating in the city but the three new ones will be bigger, and more retail shops and eateries are also expected to do business in the city through the three new malls, the mayor pointed out. (Tita Roces)
