LAST Friday during the inauguration of a covered court in Barangay Guesang, Mangaldan, Fourth District Rep. Christopher “Toff “de Venecia stressed the importance of planning for infrastructures like roads, schools and gymnasiums in development which, he said, positively impact the quality of life of the community.

Citing a study by the Gallup Organization that said, “the predominant factors that matter in people’s community are openness, social offerings, and aesthetics,” De Venecia said “this covered court does not only serve as the center of social, cultural and sports in this barangay but also answers the need of the residents  to connect with each other,  to enjoy sports together and to engage in activities that enrich the local culture.”

For two days, De Venecia was seen leading the inaugurations of a number of infrastructure projects initiated by his mother, Gina de Venecia, during her incumbency as congresswoman of the 4th congressional District.

Among these are: the three-storey, six-classroom senior high school building of the San Fabian Integrated School, Inmalog Sur, San Fabian, costing P10,619,519 million and another two-storey, eight-classroom school building project for the Manaoag National High School, worth P11,127,300.

He also inaugurated farm-to-market roads in Sitio Dumurog and Sitio Canit in Lucao, Dagupan City, worth P3,929,924.

De Venecia said, “well-paved roads like these do not only make life comfortable for the commuting public as they also improve the market value of real estate.”

In these events, De Venecia outlined his plan to transform the fourth congressional district as tourism and agribusiness haven. “This is our time to shine”, he said.

With its many scenic, religious and historical spots, the congressman plans to put the district in the country’s tourism map. He mentioned the house of General Douglas McArthur in Dagupan City, the endless stretch of seashore in San Fabian, the Basilica Minore of Our Lady of the Rosary of Manaoag, the heritage home of Donya Openg in Mangaldan, the biking trails in San Fabian and Mangaldan, farm tourism in BFAR complex, Asenso-Bayle Demo farm and Amari Farm in Mermer, Manaoag and food tourism in Dagupan City, as among the attractions that he intends to develop.
