Pangasinan, Dagupan report zero-casualty

AFTERMATH OF KAREN, LAWIN

THE Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (PDRRMC) reported no casualty during the onslaught of Typhoon Karen and Typhoon Lawin in towns and three cities of Pangasinan.

cartoonnews-161023There was also no casualty in Dagupan City.

Of the more than 465 families comprising 1,938 persons preemptively evacuated before Typhoon Lawin made its presence felt, many have already returned home.

Gov. Amado Espino III had ordered preemptive evacuation of residents along the lower stream of the Agno River when San Roque Dam opened its four of its gates by two meters at 3:00 p.m. of Oct. 20.

According to PDRRMC, only 24 families from Barangay Binabalian, Bolinao remain at the town’s barangay hall, Methodist Church, Iglesia ni Cristo and Born Again chapel while two families from Maniboc and Pangapisan Norte in Lingayen remained at the Narciso Ramos Sports and Civic Center.

Few more evacuated families in Urbiztondo, Alcala and San Manuel, remain at the evacuation centers.

The PDRRMC is still compiling reports on damages to the province in agriculture and infrastructure.

Still under water today are 10 sitios in Sta. Barbara, 10 sitios and barangays in Calasiao, Binmaley, two barangays in Bautista, and four barangays near the river in Urdaneta City. (Leonardo Micua)
