Guv Pogi reaffirms vow to guide P’sinan youth

PRAISE FOR TEACHERS. Governor Amado “Pogi” I. Lingayen – “We reaffirm our commitment to the future of Pangasinan, the students, the youth, the next generation of Pangasinenses.”

Governor Amado “Pogi” I. Espino, III thus avowed as he addressed schools heads and teachers at the Araw ng Parangal at Pasasalamat of the Department of Education- Schools Division I Pangasinan (SDIP) last October 6 at the Sison Auditorium, Capitol Compound here.

The provincial chief executive said that through a stronger collaboration between the provincial government and schools, the youth can be guided onward to a better path with compassionate leadership that both institutions should provide.

“With the kind of leadership and of course, love and compassion we can teach the youth that they carry not only their own names, but also their families’, their towns’ or cities’, as well as the province’s,” he urged.

He said that teachers are close to his and his family’s heart because his grandfather Amado Espino, Sr. is a teacher by profession, who reared his father, former governor and now 5th District Congressman Amado T. Espino, Jr.

“I know that there is no one in this life who has never undergone a guidance of a teacher. For that I am grateful to all of you teachers,” the governor said.

The Program on Awards and Incentives for Service Excellence (PRAISE) Araw ng Parangal at Pasasalamat is part of SDIP’s two-day celebration of the World Teachers’ Day that recognizes meritorious performance by faculty and non-teaching staff as well as school heads and schools.

After the governor’s inspirational talk, the Gawad Pasasalamat to stakeholders and Gawad Parangal for outstanding teachers and employees were bestowed by the SDIP officials as led by Superintendent Ma. Celia Junio-Fernandez.

Also gracing the event was DepEd Region 1 Director Alma Ruby Torio, who delivered the keynote message. /RMCL
