SOME 100 retailers of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) in Pangasinan attended the Product Quality and Safety Forum conducted by the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) on Saturday at the City De Luxe Restaurant here.

The DTI, in partnership with the Solane Gas Corporation, organized the forum as part of the celebration of the National Standards Week, the annual commemoration of the importance of standardization activities in upholding the Filipino consumers’ right to safety.

During the forum, Engr. Guillermo Avelino Jr., senior specialist of DTI-Pangasinan, reiterated the role LPG retailers in ensuring the safety and protection of consumers since dilapidated LPG tanks may cause fire hazards and accidents.

Avelino also advised the retailers not to sell or trade tampered, dilapidated and substandard LPG cylinders to avoid being penalized. (PIA- Pangasinan)
